Special Dates in Barcelona: Museums that you can visit for free!

For art, history and culture lovers of Barcelona these special dates, weekly days and hours to have free entrance to many of the biggest and most interesting museums in Barcelona are must-haves on the calendars!

Of course, there must be exhibitions, galleries, attractions and museums you are willing to pay the small fees to ensure your visit
or show your appreciation -let’s don’t forget that the ones with the higher entrance fees don’t usually have a free day anyway.

But what if I tell you that you actually have plenty of chances to visit some of the attractions in Barcelona such as Picasso Museum, Parc Güell or MACBA for free. Isn’t it more tempting to see a couple of them without paying any fee while you can?

Here’s the list of Barcelona attractions and museums with the special dates to enter for free.

Some Special Dates of Free Entrance to Museums in Barcelona 

These are some special dates for you to check if your favourite museum has open doors to celebrate the day.

  • First Sunday of the Month

  • 12th February: Santa Eulàlia Festival

  • 6th-7th April: Món Llibre

  • 18th May: International Museum Day

  • 11th September: National Day of Catalonia

  • 24th September: La Mercè Festival

Museu Picasso

Picasso was not from Barcelona originally maybe but definitely made this place his home. Picasso Museum is a great place to see the artist’s works from his development years and onwards.

Free Entrance:

  • Every Thursday afternoon from 6 PM to 9.30 PM

  • First Sunday of the month, from 9 AM to 7 PM

  • 12th February, 18th May and 24th September

Parc Güell

Did you know that you can visit the well-known Park Güell for free? It is definitely one of the main attractions of Barcelona with an amazing view of the city where Gaudi’s famous lizard is also waiting for you! We recommend you to go there in the morning so you can enjoy the colourful view.

Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA)

Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC)
